Will Apple Cider help with Scalp Psoriasis?

Anyone who has ever had to deal with psoriasis knows that it can be incredibly uncomfortable for many reasons. Not only do you have to put up with the constant itching and flaking, but the social stigma of it can be downright devastating. The confusion around the subject doesn’t help either. There are so many people who claim to know about psoriasis, yet each one of them seems to offer a different opinion on psoriasis causes and what will help.

If you are not familiar with psoriasis, it is a skin condition that affects about 2% of the population. Some psoriasis symptoms are a reddened rash and large flakes of dry, scaly skin. When it is on one’s head, it can easily be mistaken for dandruff scalp or just a normal dry, itchy scalp.

A different skin irritation that is often confused with psoriasis is one where a rash forms on the scalp skin, but it seems more moist or oozing. This would be eczema scalp, and it is usually associated with an oily scalp. Most instances of psoriasis include dry skin as opposed to moist. However, there is a rare form known as pustular psoriasis, in which small bumps filled with pus rise up amidst the rash.

Let’s talk about the possible treatments for psoriasis. There is no known cure for this ailment, but there are methods you can use to lessen the symptoms to something more manageable.

Psoriasis is actually caused by an overproduction of skin cells in the affected area. This excessive creation of cells is due, at least in part, to polyamines which are the bi-product of incomplete or poor digestion. So, one thing you can do to relieve some of your symptoms would be to create a psoriasis diet for yourself. You can try it out for a few weeks and see if it has any effect. If it does, you’ll know you are on the right track.

The first foods you’ll want to look at will probably be your gluten and refined white carbohydrates. Try removing as much of these from your diet as possible. You may also want to minimize your red meat and dairy, as these all feed the wrong bacteria in your bowels and thus create more polyamines.

Your psoriasis diet vegetables should be raw whenever possible. It is important to clean them properly though, so use a spray bottle with a mixture of half water and half apple cider vinegar and spray them, then rinse before eating. This will kill any bacteria on them before they enter your system.

Drinking straight apple cider may not do much to help you with this condition; but, if you combine apple cider with a base of celery and cucumber juice, it will help keep your liver clean and working properly. A clean liver will remove the toxins from your digestive track more efficiently.

Scalp psoriasis can often be a difficult and embarrassing condition to live with. You suffer from constant scalp itch. Shampooing dry scalp, areas even with a psoriasis shampoo, doesn’t always help with the itching scalp. So, you are left trying to conceal the appearance of such excessive dandruff while you search for any psoriasis treatments you can find.

Many people wonder if it is safe to indulge in hair treatments such as getting a perm, or coloring their hair, when psoriasis is an issue. Experts say that there should be no reason that you cannot color or perm your hair. In fact, treating yourself to a new hair style can work wonders on your self esteem. The one thing you may want to keep in mind is that there should be no open scratches, cuts or lesions on your scalp when you go to have the styling done.

But let’s face it: what you really want to do is find a sure-fire treatment for scalp psoriasis or perhaps an itchy beard cure, if the condition has arisen in that area as well. There are so many claims for so many different cures out there; it is very difficult to know which ones are legitimate scalp psoriasis treatments and which are just scams, like the skin cap system.

You may wonder if topical scalp steroids would work for you, or if you should go the more extreme route and get steroid injections for psoriasis. Or perhaps you find comfort in the connections made between nioxin and psoriasis symptoms fading to near extinction. But which should you try?

The true answer is that every person is different and the treatments that work for some often do not work for others, so it’s all a matter of trial and error. A skin specialist should be able to guide you easily through the process.

However, there is a lot to be said for working on the body’s overall health to head off the problem from within. For instance, if you focus on eating healthy vegetables, and staying away from glutens and simple white carbohydrates, you can cleanse your liver. Since the liver is needed to process the toxins that may be responsible for the increased skin cell production, this could help to drastically improve the situation. It has been proven that eating high-protein vegetables such as beans or lentils, and consuming vegetable fiber which can be found in carrot or tomato juice, has an excellent effect on the liver. A healthy liver can bring about a reduction of psoriasis symptoms.

Though there is a great deal of uncertainty and confusion surrounding this condition, there are also a lot of helpful techniques and products available to reduce the effects of the problems it causes. So, don’t be afraid to go out, get your hair done and find the solution that works best for you!

There could be many reasons why a person finds themselves dealing with an itchy scalp. It does not necessarily mean that you have psoriasis scalp. Though you may find your scalp dry and uncomfortable, perhaps with itchy bumps, it could simply be a case of dandruff, or a reaction to your current shampoo.

Psoriasis usually presents itself as a reddened rash with large plaques of silvery-white scaly skin. It is also known to be itchy, dry and occasionally accompanied by temporary hair loss. A professional skin care specialist would be able to identify it easily if you have any question about whether what you are experiencing is merely dandruff or something that will need more of an eczema treatment to resolve.

There are a few things that many people usually try first as a scalp treatment once they’ve discovered that they have a need for one. In mild cases, it is common for people to create a routine of switching shampoos throughout the week. This has been known to bring about an easing of the symptoms. Using a scalp shampoo every other day, interspersed with using tea tree shampoo and perhaps adding in a regular dandruff shampoo during your week, may help alleviate the dryness of your scalp.

Many people choose to shave the hair around the affected areas to make it easier to manage. This may or may not be an option for you. If you do decide to do this, though, keep in mind that using an electric razor near the skin suffering from psoriasis may be painful and can cause damage to the area trying to heal. It would be best to use something milder, like a mustache trimmer, for these areas.

There are several other psoriasis treatments out there which are a bit more extreme. For instance, topical or injected steroids are treatments that have been found to have success. These treatments do seem to alleviate the symptoms with relative quickness, but the dangers of using them should be weighed seriously. By most accounts, those who have received steroid injections have seen their symptoms disappear within ten to fourteen days. However, there have been numerous reports stating that when the condition returned within a month of treatment, it came back much worse than it was in the beginning. So, caution is highly recommended.

For your own safety, you may consider making your remedy herbal instead of chemical. An herbal remedy might consist of liver-cleansing herbs, fresh vegetables, and a reduction in red meats and dairy for a while. This may not work quite as fast, but the results are more likely to last longer when they do work.

The smartest thing to do is research all the options available to you. Discuss them with a specialist and give the least aggressive or invasive choices a try first.
